Chamber of Mothers: MN chapter meeting recap
Honoring Rep. Melissa Hortman; community and hope keeps us going | 2 min read
“Community” and “hope.”
Two words that came up again and again at our Minnesota Chamber of Mothers meeting yesterday. It’s why people joined, and why they stay.
That meant even more, just 1 week after the assassination of Rep. Melissa Hortman.
Her death shook our community. It overloaded our nervous systems with sadness, fear, and rage.
But we still showed up.
We took grounding breaths together. Then we reflected:
How fiercely we care about our kids’ safety and future.
The tension of being both moms and advocates.
Melissa’s wins: free school lunches, paid leave, and more. She did that.
The joy, clarity, and hope our kids bring when we don’t know what to say.
Her two children’s wishes: Plant a tree. Pet a dog. Stand up for what you believe in: https://lnkd.in/gvyFy_g5
We recommitted to that spirit–showing up with kindness, compassion, and resilience. Because that’s what makes Minnesotans great.
Mothering is hard, especially now.
And it’s also enough. Raising kind, empathetic humans IS world-changing work.
At Chamber of Mothers, we’re planting seeds for change—paid leave, affordable childcare, and maternal health access.
Even if you don’t have time to join a meeting, we’re here with small actions to take, whenever you have the bandwidth.
Join the fight, and help us carry Melissa’s flame forward:
