For: The mom who feels guilty as soon as she sits down.

When my first baby was 9 months old, I left my job to spend more time with her.

My life coach recommended this book when it became clear I had no idea how to ‘rest’.

TBH, I was more worried people would think I was lazy.

For years, I was really good at getting things done. The more productive was, the more valuable I felt. Then I became a mom, and that pressure became unsustainable.

We’re expected to do it all, never ask for help, recover quickly, and enjoy every minute of it.

Here’s book #2 for new moms:
💫 Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey

This book changed so much for me. It:
🌟 Named my obsession with being productive: Grind culture.
🌟 Showed me how capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy have made rest feel like a privilege instead of a right.
🌟 Helped me separate my worth from how much I got done.
🌟 Made me realize rest was more than a nap: For me, it’s writing, running, coloring with my daughter, or just being still.
🌟 Taught me that choosing rest is a way to reclaim my time and energy.

Taking a break from work forced me to learn how to actually rest – and start untangling from grind culture. It gave me space to be more present for my family and myself. It helped me reconnect with what matters most to me, and where I wanted to put that energy.

Today, I channel a lot of it toward advocating for better systems for the next mom, so fewer of us feel like we have to burn ourselves out to be good moms.

As Tricia says, ‘‘You don’t have to earn rest. You are worthy of rest simply because you exist.’
