Series: Your Stories Matter (Why I joined Chamber of Mothers)
I wanted to do something with my mom rage | 5 min read
Mom rage is real.
I chose to channel mine into action.
After my first baby, I was stunned by what early motherhood looks like in America. If it was hard for me–someone with privilege and access to some of the best health care–I knew it was way harder for moms without support and resources.
That’s when I found Chamber of Mothers, a grassroots movement fighting for what every new mom deserves:
Paid leave. Affordable childcare. Maternal health care.
Here’s how Chamber changed my life:
🌟 It helped me understand the system gaps and gave me a new purpose: use my voice to push for better.
🌟 Made me feel less alone as a 2X survivor of postpartum anxiety.
🌟 Connected me to my people–fed up, fired up moms done with the status quo and uniting to get things done.
🌟 Gave me community during some of the hardest moments impacting moms in Minnesota—like the tragedy at the Annunciation School, the fatal shootings of Rep. Melissa Hortman, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti, and recent federal enforcement activity.
Early motherhood is hard.
Not because we’re failing, but because too many moms are doing it without REAL systemic support.
After almost 2 years with Chamber of Mothers, and now as a Minnesota Chapter Leader, I’ve found my voice.
I’ve learned to honor—not suppress—my rage, fear, and anxiety.
Because they carry a ton of energy. And with the right community, like Chamber of Mothers, that energy becomes action.
Last week’s national D.C. fly-in showed me a new level of advocacy (and responsibility) I didn’t fully understand before.
